Minnesota PTA Scholarship: The Minnesota PTA will award two $500 scholarships to high school seniors who will be entering the field of education at a Minnesota college or university. The scholarships will be awarded based on academic ability, financial need, community service, and essay response. For more information and an application, please go to www.mnpta.org . The deadline to apply is March 15th. Winners will be notified by April 15th.

Kiwanis Club of Friendly Duluth Andrew E. Reardon Scholarship : This $500 scholarship will be awarded to students attending UMD, or an East High School senior planning on attending UMD or St. Scholastica, and studying medicine. Applicants need to send a letter of request showing financial need and stating why thewould like to be considered for the scholarship, along with civic/volunteer activities, academic achievement, what school you will attend, and any other information that will help the committee to decide. Preference is given to a high school Key Club member. For more information on this scholarship and where to send the letter, please visit www.kiwanisduluth.com . The deadline to apply is March 15th.

Kiwanis Club of Friendly Duluth Amistead Scholarship: This $500 scholarship will be awarded to one student attending UMD, one St. Scholastica student, one Lake Superior College student, or a Duluth Public School senior planning on attending one of these three institutions. Applicants need to write a letter stating their background, history of civic/volunteer service, extra-curricular activities and academic achievement. Preference is given to a high school Key Club member, and you must state the school you will be attending. For more information on this scholarship and where to send the letter, please visit www.kiwanisduluth.com . The deadline to apply is March 15th.

Twin Ports Walleye Association Scholarship: The Twin Ports Walleye Association is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior or returning post secondary student from St. Louis and Carleton Counties in Minnesota and Douglas County in Wisconsin. The student must be referred by or be a current TPWA member to be eligible. Applicants must be going into a field of Biology, DNR, Environmental Sciences, etc. Applications are available in the Career Center. The deadline to apply is March 31st.

Duluth Teacher's Credit Union: Will be awarding four $1,000 non-renewable scholarships to area high school seniors in the spring of 2013. Applications and complete guidelines are available in the Career Center and on their website at www.dtcu.net (click on applications). High school senior does not need to be a member of DTCU to apply, but must be in the top 1/3 of their class. The deadline to apply is March 29th.

Hibbing Community College Foundation Scholarships: Scholarships will be awarded for the fall of 2013 and are non-renewable. Senior planning to attend in the fall should have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 and must enroll for a minimum of 6 credits for the fall of 2013. Past academic performance and future performance determine the recipients. Applications are available in the Career Center and the deadline to apply is April 1st.

College of St. Scholastica Scholarships: 1) CSSyes Scholarship: full tuition, 4 yr. renewable scholarship available to seniors entering full time in the fall of 2013. Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA, be a resident of Minnesota, score at least 20 on the ACT, and come from a family that meets low income requirements. The deadline to apply is April 1st. 2) Sister Timothy Kirby Social Justice Scholarship: ten scholarships ranging from $5,000-$18,000 available to seniors entering full time in the fall of 2013. Must have a GPA of 2.75 or higher and must demonstrate substantial commitment to pluralism and the advancement of racial and social justice. It is based on financial need and the deadline to apply is March 29th. 3) CSS Mulitcultural, Inclusion and Diversity Scholarship: Awards ranging from $500-$3,000 available to seniors entering full time in the fall of 2013. Aimed at students who have shown a commitment to advancing racial and social justice and who also demonstrate need based on the FAFSA. Preference will be given to students of color. The deadline to apply is April 5th. 4) Raymond Prebilic Scholarship: Two $2,500/year renewable scholarships available to one male and one female senior entering full time in the fall of 2013. Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA. Strong consideration will be given to students involved in volunteering and leadership roles. Financial need is also a consideration. University of MN –Twin Cities Lambda Chapter of the Alpha Gam Rho Fraternity Scholarships: Up to five $1,000 scholarships awarded to students enrolling in the Fall of 2013. Three scholarships are awarded to students majoring in agriculture, one scholarship is awarded to a student entering the Food Science and Nutrition related field, and one scholarship is awarded to a student entering the Forestry and Natural Resources related field. Applications are available at http://agrminnesota.com/scholarship. The deadline for mailed scholarship applications is March 11th. The deadline to apply electronically is March 13th.

Kohl’s Cares Scholarships: Nominate a young volunteer for up to $10,000. Go to kohlskids.com to nominate your child or someone you know who is 18 years of age as of March 15th and will be a graduating senior. The student’s volunteer actions should be described in detail and their volunteer efforts must have occurred in the last year. Winners will be chosen based on their volunteer service. Nominators must be 21 years or older. Deadline to submit a nomination is March 15th.

Charter Communications Student Scholarship: Up to ten $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors who plan to major in a field of relevance to Charter, such as marketing, accounting, business administration, business management, communications, computer technology, engineering, or a related field. Applications are available in the Career Center. The deadline to apply is March 30th.

Members Cooperative Credit Union Future Leaders Scholarship: $1,000-$1,500 scholarship awarded to a senior planning to attend an accredited post secondary school in the fall of 2013. Scholarship funds will be available to the recipient January 31, 2014, contingent upon the submittal of college transcripts for the fall semester of 2013. Applications can be downloaded at www.membersccu.org. (go to member resources and then community youth foundation). The deadline to apply is March 31st.

WITC (Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College) Scholarships: Planning on attending WITC in the fall? Go to witc.edu/scholarships to apply for scholarships. The deadline to apply is April 8th.

Proctor Federal Credit Union Scholarships: Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors planning to pursue post-secondary education in the fall of 2013. Awards will be based on need, class scholastic standing, community involvement, and extra-curricular activity. The student must be a member of the Proctor Federal Credit Union. Applications are available at either the Proctor or Duluth office, or online at www.proctorfcu.com. The deadline to apply is April 15th.

First Solutions Founders’ Fund Scholarship: $1,000 scholarships to be awarded to seniors (from northeastern Minnesota) planning to pursue a career in medicine, nursing, health administration, pharmacy, medical technology , x-ray technology, dentistry, medical records, dental hygiene, occupational health, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, medical social work or psychology. The student must enroll in an accredited school of higher education which offers an Associate of Science or Arts degree or higher in a health care field. Applications are available in the Career Center. The deadline to apply is April 15th.

Minnesota Women’s Golf Association Foundation: The MWGA Foundation Scholarship is based on academic performance (minimum 3.0 GPA), continued financial need (FAFSA is required) and quality of character as demonstrated by civic and academic activities. This scholarship is for $3,000 per year, four year renewable for 4 consecutive years, and is available to senior girls who intend to enroll in college full time. Although skill or excellence in the game of golf is not a criterion, candidates shall demonstrate an interest or involvement in the sport. Stop by the Career Center for an application. The deadline to apply is March 31st.

AgStar Scholarship Program: Twenty $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors who will pursue ag-related degrees or with an ag or rural background. Recipients are based on academic achievement, leadership characteristics and ag-related community involvement. Stop by the Career Center for an application. The deadline to apply is April 1st.

Men of Principle Scholarship – U of M – Twin Cities: The Beta Pi Chapter of Beta Theta Pi will be awarding one $1,000 and two $500 scholarships to incoming freshmen at the U of M. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA or better for consideration. The scholarship is intended to reward men who demonstrate a strong devotion to academic success and a commitment to making the U of M and community better. Membership in the organization is not a requirement to apply. Applications are available in the Career Center. The deadline to apply is April 1st.

Local 1938 Steelworkers Memorial Scholarship: Ten $750 scholarships will be awarded to dependent children of a member or retiree of Local Union 1938, United Steelworkers US Steel Corporation, Virginia, MN (Minntac plant). Recipients will be awarded based on GPA, school activities as well as outside activities. You must be a senior who will pursue post-secondary education in the fall. Applications are available in the Career Center. The application must be submitted by your guidance counselor. The deadline to apply is April 1st.

Arthur Foy III Memorial Scholarship: One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a senior who is pursuing post-secondary education in the fall of 2013, in a field of his/her choice. This scholarship is for disadvantaged minority youths, and preference will be given based on following criteria: racial ethnic young people of the Duluth/Superior Area, active members of a black congregation in the Duluth/Superior Area, first time college attendees from the family, and demonstrated financial need. Applications are available in the Career Center, and they must be returned to Peace Church in Duluth by April 1st.

Clean Air Choice Biodiesel Essay Scholarship: Sponsored by the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council, this contest is open to all high school seniors with plans to attend post-secondary education. The essay is limited to 1,000 words. You can create your own biodiesel topic or choose one of the following: 1) biodiesel’s benefits to Minnesota, 2) expanding biodiesel’s use: opportunities and challenges, or 3) how can you impact biodiesel use in your area. The first place essay will be awarded $1,000, and the second place essay will be awarded $500. For more information, stop by the Career Center. The deadline to enter an essay is April 5 at 4:30 p.m.

2013 Lanford Family Highway Worker Memorial Scholarship Program: This program provides up to $5,000 scholarships to sons, daughters or legally adopted children of highway workers who die or have become permanently disabled in roadway work zone accidents. The applicant must pursue post-secondary education at a 4-year, 2-year, vocational technical college, or training institution. Applications are available in the Career Center. The deadline to apply is April 5th.

Richard I. Bong High School Essay Contest: This essay contest is open to all students in grades 9-12 in Wisconsin and Minnesota. An original essay of 500 words or less must be submitted on “Why is the Korean War remembered as the ‘Forgotten War’ in American History?” The top winning essay will receive a cash prize of $250, and a $50 cash prize will be awarded to the first and second runner-up. Go to www.bvhcenter.org for further guidelines, formatting requirements, and submission instructions. The deadline is April 26th at 5:00 p.m.

Minnesota Masonic Charities Matching Funds Scholarship – Ionic Lodge 186: Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to high school seniors pursuing post-secondary education. Masonic relationship is not a pre-requisite for this scholarship. A one-page paper on freemasonry is required. Further details about the scholarship can be found on the application which is available in the Career Center. The deadline to apply is May 1st.

Arrowhead Youth Soccer Association Scholarships: Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors who have participated in A.Y.S.A. or a similar soccer program during his or her youth. Applications are available in the Career Center. The deadline to apply is May 27th.
